It was also here that Sri Aurobindo started his career in India

What happened in Baroda, one of the most beutiful campuses in India started by the Gaekwads, erstwhile Maharajas of Baroda is shameful. The Gaekwads had patronised great artists like Raja Ravi Varma. It was also here that Sri Aurobindo started his career in India. At the Baroda College, what it was known by, that much before his political activism and spiritual sojourns started. When requested to return to India by the then Maharaja of Baroda Aurobindo had consented, then in England. And true to the legacy it is even today a great institution of learning, not just in Fine Arts but most other subjects. Regarding the Faculty of Fine Arts in Baroda any one can test what it means. Get the list of the best artists in India in the recent past and a majority shall be from Baroda. And it is this noble institution that the Parivar has now targetted. Time they did some home work, showed more humility, Hinduism is not made in Nagpur. Posted by akrami at 3:12 AM
