Sri Aurobindo said precisely this ^ in the Human Cycle where he writes about the evolutionary crisis that humanity faces, suggesting that periods of intense darkness and chaos act as catalysts for spiritual transformation. According to Aurobindo, “The spiritual aim, the seeking for the highest self, the inmost spirit, the universal, all-embracing reality, must be the ultimate aim of humanity.” When traditional structures and sources of meaning collapse, it often leads people to seek deeper, more transcendent truths.
