Sri Aurobindo refused to write an article for Radhakrishnan

Karthik Srinivasan @karrama12 ·Sep 19 Replying to @shrikanth_krish
No. It's like saying Vivekananda would have had a PhD in his day! Shankara or Ramanuja were spiritual geniuses whose works were reflection of their tapas! Sri Aurobindo refused to write an article for Dr. Radhakrishnan in oriental journal but wrote tons of it for his disciples.

@folks_konkani ·1h
Sir include classic books like Upanishads and Secrets of Vedas by Sri Aurobindo in English literature curriculum of Central and State boards. The book is rich in vocabulary and language and will educate our youth on their culture since they've losing touch with it. @dpradhanbjp

Sri Aurobindo has said much more eloquently what I say more crudely ‘Many of our present social forms were shaped in a time of contraction and decline. They had their utility for self-defence..I believe in an aggressive and expanding, not defensive and self-contracting Hinduism’

Geetanjali Actress Official Account @Intdobserver ·18h Replying to @Vik1857 @priyankchn Not so. 1 example: UNESCO recognised Auroville, based on the transformation yoga of Sri Aurobindo/The Mother (Puducherry) is the world's most successful & poss. largest so-called alternative society. Goal is the divine transformation of matter.

Sri Aurobindo Ghosh & The mother are terribly underrated, not read enough by people nor appreciated enough by scholarship or academia. It is because they had a very clear and astute understanding of Bhartiya civilisational consciousness, shastras and Indic Philosophy.

What a surprise. Capitalism is made to live of its perpetual crisis. Where is the revelation here? Reading suggestion: The Human Cycle by Sri Aurobindo, a very WIDE ANGLE view on the evolution of human society.

Vedanta--Marxism--Christianity , are the only possible alternatives before mankind. Islam comes into the picture also because, in Mohammad Iqbal ( and his Asrar-i-Khudi ),Islam found its own Aurobindo.Owassi should read it to find a place in UP and on the horizons of India .

1/2 "Alienated from the roots, caught in the web of conflicting schemas, unable to interact with western scholarship on a level ground, we have failed to produce in the last 150 years any thinker or thought."
2/2 "The possible exceptions, Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo, Mahatma Gandhi, are interestingly those who consciously located themselves in the Indian tradition and are oriented towards its metaphysical thought."

Agree with every word but one small quibble with the timeline - Aurobindo, utterly original, was in the last 100 years. Also what about the scientists? 150 means things end at Vivekananda.

#Gandhi sidelined Sri Aurobindo, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bipin Pal, Subhash Bose, Baba Saheb Ambedkar among many other great Indian Leaders. Why is #Gandhi still a Father for you?

Alexander Semenenko usually publishes in Russian, so it's good to get English output once in a while. Check out for a separate line of evidence for out-of-India dispersals for IE languages.

ShoebillStork @TrueShoebill ·Sep 21 Also @hub_nationalist @Atithigva @JoeAgneya @Jaydeep74440189 @HINDprehistory Still to read, but Semenenko always insightful. "Watery Humpback Cattle pattern in the Rigveda and the first archaeologically recorded route of the Rigvedic Aryans' migration from India to Anatolia"

Yes. Well aware of this. It is part of the evidence that shows that Indian cattle migration was also associated with spread of Zebu associated religious practices.

Semenenko's analysis also ties "literary evidence" to "archaeological evidence". Solves the Frawley paradox, i.e. where is IVC's literature & where is Rig Veda's archeology? Semenenko says that they are one & the same people. More such correspondences must be brought out

Igor Tonoyan-Belyayev's work on Rigvedic, PIE and Harappan languages is also good on this note. He argues for filiality between RV Sanskrit and Harappan language.

Ironically, I've noticed that it is the Russian scholars who seem more open to the OIT idea and not be jingoistic about "South Russia/Steppes". Its the Western Europeans who are desperate in their identity-seeking.

Interestingly though, the Russians prefer calling it out-of-South-Asia to avoid any engagement/encounter with the "Hindutva crowd." Semenenko's exasperated shut down of his FB group is legendary.

"Its the W Europeans who are desperate in their identity-seeking." Also E Eur incl Poles. S Eur too pro-AIT. Varies by indiv. "Russian scholars seem more open to OIT" Semenenko is a follower of sri Aurobindo. Of course open-minded & active for truth (e.g Danino), like their guru

Thanks for this one. Semenenko dismisses most of Talageri sir's conclusions, because he believes dāśarājña is no historical account at all and is instead a yogic yajña inside Sudās' head. Also explains Danino's take that no historicity can be extracted from dāśarājña.

Multi options poss? 1historic 2 yogic 3 yogic followed by enacted/hist: e.g per Arjuna & Sri Krishna dialogue in MBh outside Gita, Rudra seen dispatching all enemies before they reach A & he finds he just goes through the motions after. Krishna identifies that doer as Rudra to A. Reference for option 3 where Mahabharata tied back to Veda (and Gita):https://kamakoti.org/kamakoti/stotra/Sri%20Rudram%20Anuvakam8.html

Yes I agree. Several layers nested within the mantric semantic-syntactic-epistemological web is my understanding. To exclude all except one is the curious part, as Semenenko does despite extracting other information from same source.

Must be from his Guru's reading. Aurobindo maintained that Vedas are multi-layered & meanings are subtle. So "historicity" might seem a little gross for his liking. But as you said, he himself is doing it. To not read historicity is to throw-away significant OIT evidence - silly

How does one read Aurobindo & Vivekananda and then find Ambedkar's opinions on Hinduism acceptable in any form?

This is a peculiar specialty of Dindu nationalists of Quora. I bet she hasn't read anyone of them. Aurobindo & Vivekananda's works are quite vast. It's beyond these e-Hindu reformers' comprehension.

Yes, definitely. I don't know in the case of Aurobindo but very few people I know have read even half of Vivekananda's complete works. It's always those 20 rupee booklets from RKM. Same case with Tagore

Yes very few people own Vivekananda's 11 Vol. work. I still haven't finished it. Same with Aurobindo. It's more than 35,000 pages. I don't know how these school going kids are so well read yet understand so little!

Forget kids, even grown up 40 something raita wing influencers haven't finished reading. Tharoor was arrogantly quoting Vivekananda in the debate with JSD but was caught out very quickly, showing how much he had actually read.

The problem is, those who have not read are discussed and those who have read are ignored. Foreigners who misrepresent Sri Aurobindo are more sought after. The celebrity syndrome is a real spoiler.

Talent of Chapala/Chandana blossomed in the same family atmosphere as of Sarada Prasanna Naik which of course soured in the later years. I assume that this seemingly hagiographic book from the family stable must have ignored the pioneering contributions of the latter. Knowing truthful history is important.

Please avoid such clownish behaviour in the public domain. Earning a doctorate has a specific procedure. Honorary ones are of course awarded.
It's well known that I don't encourage anyone to read Sri Aurobindo. But it's not the question of liking you or anyone. SAVITRI is sacred to a lot many people and if you continue to monkey around with it, then I will surely register my protest. #SriAurobindo
That's fine. Knowledge ought to be respected if not the person. But I expect that you don't talk about SAVITRI & Ramcharitmanas in the same breath. Also don't equate Sri Aurobindo with his famous contemporaries like Vivekananda. There's need to focus on #SriAurobindo exclusively.

You have put Sri Aurobindo among his opponents and adversaries. Please be kind to him. @NathTusar
Goel might have been inspired by Sri Aurobindo but his work led to disharmony and hatred. He didn't accept SA's philosophy in its entirety but used some of his sayings to justify his own radical agenda.

IMHO, there is a big diff btwn works / views of scholars of political Hindutva - Savarkar to Elst - n those of spiritual / philosophical Hinduism - Dayanand, Vivekanand, Sri Aurobindo, etc to Gurudatt, Ram Swarup, etc. n some such SR Goel stand in both camps.

Western scholars have only scratched the surface of the Vedas as nature worship. Great Yogis like Sri Aurobindo, Kapali Shastri, Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni, Sri Anirvan, and Brahmarshi Daivarat have revealed the cosmic secrets of the Vedic mantras through their Rishi vision.

Dr. Ambedkar provided one of the best literary interpretations of the Rigveda. Arya and Dasyu were not two different races but two different types of conduct, with Arya indicating dharmic values. His views should be carefully read by all historians.

Seriously??!! Dr. Ambedkar called Vedas as "a worthless set of books"..His knowledge of Sanskrit was limited & he had to rely on Muller's translations.. A few comments on AIT does not make his interpretation "the best".. Political correctness should be left to Politicians only..

The Bill was for legal validity of Inter-Caste marriages, #SriAurobindo called it a reversion because it was not an uncommon practice in ancient India

I think #SriAurobindo says that appropriation will lead to a futile sense of self-confidence, unless that confidence can be used for a greater creative output (which will not reject but assimilate those western notions which can be effectively assimilated)

Grt achievements by both. It's a proud moment for the ppl of Assam. Digantada has dedicated his life for the pursuit of the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and presently he is delivering a series of 100 lectures on Sri Aurobindo's views on Indian philosophy orgzd by Assam University

Sri Aurobindo had the gene for schizophrenia as his mother Swarnalata was schizophrenic. His Integral Yoga is a rip off of Kabbalah taught to him by Mirra (Myra) Alfassa (The Mother, Sephardic Jew). She learned Kabbalah from Max Theon her former guru. Theon: son of a Polish Rabbi.

It's not the case that Sri Aurobindo alone could visualise Swaraj

1- India is not to follow the west – Sri Aurobindo 2 – Sri Aurobindo and Capitalism 3 – Crisis of Capitalism, Socialism – Sri Aurobindo Sri Aurobindo was a great Yogi that the world has ever seen. Without knowing Sri Aurobindo, India is illetrate. An illetrate person has to first learn a, b, c and then learn to read and write to become literate – a nation has to first learn the rudimentaries of precious knowledge and then learn to gain a mastery over that to make use of that knowledge. Knowledge is power – more powerful than atom bomb.

Sri Aurobindo has emphatically said that the socialistic ideals (sharing for common good of humanity in place of mutual economic exploitation) are inevitable to take place on earth and that it is better that the same may be achieved willingly through an Asian way of inner spiritual conscious decision rather than imposed on humanity by force by a socialist World-State.

Sri Aurobindo while dealing with the ideal of human unity saw an unfolding of the self-consciousness of social being, which started with its tentative steps in ancient social institutions and would culminate in a World-State under either of these two rival principles – the principle of Natural violent social convulsion or a willing choice of social being. In this process, he saw Socialism as an inevitable outcome of the struggle between Capital and Labor and said that Democracy and Socialism are the sign that this self-consciousness of social being is begining to ripen into fullness. In his writings we can find a clue of what is impending for this unfolding self-consciousness of social being and get guidance for the future of our social life as a race.

We would refer to Sri Aurobindo from “Ideal of Human Unity” on pages 463-502 where he says that if the mechanical or state principle is followed (that is, if the inner spiritual principle is not followed) for the unification of humanity, then, the great struggle between Capital and Labor might become rapidly world-wide; it would precipitate the inevitable step or present the crisis, which would bring about the transformation of nation states into the world state of a socialist kind. He said that the socialistic, scientific, humanitarian thinkers were able to detect the trend of such tendencies and to dream of nation states transforming into a socialistic world state; that such speculation may seem chimerical and utopian to a person who only looks to today and tomorrow but in reality it is nothing of the kind; and that in essence (but not necessarily in form) such results are not only the logical outcome, but the inevitable practical last end of the incipient urge towards human unity. We would quote Sri Aurobindo on this aspect in the next article of this series.

Make Sri Aurobindo a compulsory and universal part of education in India – an education that teaches that there are better objective to achieve in life than earning wealth. It can be done! Sri Aurobindo can be made a part of education. Such a move, teaching Sri Aurobindo, would on its own strength spread through out the world, like a wave. It would create better human beings – human beings motivated in their life and activities not by Vital force of desire to earn more wealth but by the better force of Divine urge.

It would be laying down the foundation of a new civilization in India, which is different from the west. Such education would create new values in the human minds. It will propel people here to put in place different considerstions to move their life snd activities. It is the meaning in the social context of “India not following the west”. All civilizations are founded on education. It is a long process. Every process has a starting point. Impossible things are not done in a day – they take time and they have a starting point.
