Best is to guide them to Integral Vedanta of Sri Aurobindo. Unlike Mayavadic interpretations which turn away from the world, SA would help reconcile both extremes. But atleast some aspiration for spiritual life / kmowledge is needed to make a beginning.

In The Secret of the Veda, Sri Aurobindo examined this word.
Commenting on RV 1.3.7, he wrote that 'carṣaṇi' carries the sense of prolonged, laborious effort — the same idea behind ploughing: breaking hard ground, working against resistance, drawing out what is hidden.
