What if the western ideal and the so called "great conversation" is really summed up in Shakespeare's words "full of sound and fury and signifying nothing"?

And what if (contrary to that imagined ideal) the fundamental impulse at the root of the entire western cultural project is the drive to total power and control as described by Lewis Mumford?

And what if the western cultural project has brought the entire world to the brink of both cultural & ecological meltdown, and effectively destroyed ALL other cultural possibilities?
