KOLKATA, March 18. —Anushilan Samiti, which once initiated Bengal’s freedom struggle, will celebrate its centenary on 23 and 24 March at the Mahajati Sadan. At a Press conference the chairman, reception committee, Mr Kshiti Goswami, said: “Bengal’s revolutionary movement was initiated and created by the Anushilan Samiti. It was established in 1902. We have organised this programme to motivate the younger generation for the cause of nationalism.” The Anushilan Samiti, in those fiery days of patriotism, had raised brave young men in the ideals of Rishi Aurobindo and Kshudiram. Mr Goswami said the samiti members are compiling records from the Andamans and Bangladesh to publish a book on the history of Anushilan Samiti.Statesman News Service The Statesman Mar 19, 2002
