India probably needs to have close to 40-50 states, with Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka being prime candidates for bifurcation or even trifurcation.

Sri Aurobindo on The Law of Love

An inspiring article on the mantric power of Sanskrit by Dr Sampadananda Mishra, director of Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Indian Culture in Pondicherry. https://t.co/6C66uU7qJ4

For millennia India and Indians have tried to understand existence - of our own and of the universe. Under very liberal intellectual ecosystems.
That’s why it hurts to see yuppies suck up to new western atheism - I was one too when young.
India: Where Science Meets Samkhya.
Those of us who wish to see a scientific yet traditional future for India, a Prabuddh Bharat, if you will, have a delicate balancing act - accepting best of world’s learning while synthesising it with best of our own https://t.co/rLLDl3fJ04
India: Where Science Meets Samkhya. There is a growing desire to build India’s future on the combined strength of its tradition and the best of modern science but the shallow temptation to place Indic thoughts over scientific worldviews must be resisted https://t.co/rLLDl3fJ04.

One very common mistake by those who equate evolution of Shamkhya with that of Darwin is that they confuse पंचभूत वर्ग (observable universe) with प्रकृति. In कारण-कार्य (cause-effect) relationship of Shankhya,  प्रकृति is कारण without being कार्य.

As if Hindu-Buddhist-Jaina traditions were mutually exclusive or watertight! The whole premise is mistaken. There was a dharmic continuum, an osmotic interchange...when will these "fakeries" or "quackeries" end? https://t.co/bWBSZ8J4s4

Clipping of  Mail Today https://t.co/neP6IRnkWP "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most (il)liberal of them all? Why are we in the twilight of liberalism the world over? Who or what is a "Dharmic liberal"? My reflections.
Personally, I do not subscribe to the Left versus Right bi-polarity or uncivil war that is dividing our public sphere. Opinions of all colours and stripes should engage and vie for attention. That is the great Indian way, which I call intermedial hermeneutics. But what is the cure or counter to entitlement combined with intolerance?
Our festival is clearly inspired by Sri Aurobindo who exhorted the national mind to “turn new eyes on past culture, reawaken to its sense and import, and see it in relation to modern knowledge and ideas” so that “out of this awakening, vision and impulse the Indian renaissance may arise.” To this end, we have tried to invite outstanding thinkers, writers, and artists to propose new, creative solutions to the many issues that confront us today. I consider the Pondy Lit Fest, thus, to be an example of dharmic liberalism. (Courtesy of Mail Today)

Sorry for not getting engaged scholar-speakers-writers like @shaktisinha @madhukishwar @heeraman98 @RajeevSrinivasa @prasannara @subhashkak1 @sankrant @Sanjay_Dixit @HindolSengupta @vikramsampath @AdityaRajKaul @rahulpandita & others to @PondyLitFest Next time perhaps?

Just for the record, would love to invite the likes of @PavanK_Varma @ShekharGupta @virsanghvi @suhelseth @BDUTT @nramind @TandonRaveena @manujosephsan @UnamPillai @PatrickFrench & yes "even" @sardesairajdeep & @svaradarajan to @PondyLitFest if they are willing to come.

And Since we're in "wish list" mode, my "bro" @aparanjape @UdayMahurkar @RatanSharda55 @MulaMutha @anuraag_saxena @AbhinavAgarwal @Abhina_Prakash @yoginisd @neha_aks @AsYouNotWish @ProfPankajJain @ProfVemsani @anuradhagoyal & more; hope they can come to @PondyLitFest 2019🙏🏽 https://t.co/WlJeVpbI6d

No, Sir, I disagree. I'm not being craven or kowtowing; fact is that each & every one of these names is someone I respect, in my own way. I am not ashamed of saying so. I consider @ShekharGupta, for instance, to be one of India's greatest journalists even if I disagree with him. https://t.co/YFz57vDIFo

Thanks so much; totally agree. I put this our mission: "With an inclusive international feel & appeal, we hope PondyLitFest brings arts-loving people of all shades, stripes, & orientations to our city." @ZEEJLF is the gold standard; much to learn from you, my friend. https://t.co/y7E3Mdf0Ac

Litfest and Leftist have same alphabets and perhaps inherently same aims.

Thank you; as I tell my students, I don't believe in the Left vs Right "uncivil" war of words. I am for "intermedial" hermeneutics, which is the great Indian way. At its best (or height) it actually leads to "integral yoga," which can transform consciousness. @PondyLitFest https://t.co/bVRCgcrY13

@MakrandParanspe best wishes for the festival and may it grow deep roots and engender dialogue debate and above all empathy and understanding for diverse voices and views! https://t.co/UT2vUOLdnC

Heartiest congratulations to @MakrandParanspe for organising a lit fest in lovely Pondicherry. Rishi Aurobindo smiles benignly on you and your honest efforts. More power to your pen.

Notice the visual: slanted reportage? But joke may be lost on them--"arvind" means lotus & @PondyLitFest is inspired by Sri Aurobindo: “turn new eyes on past culture, reawaken to its sense and import, & see it in relation to modern knowledge and ideas.” https://t.co/TT0G4ZfjNu

Ignore these ridiculous innuendos @MakrandParanspe — inspired by Sri Aurobindo, located in Pondicherry, focussed on Bharat Shakti, powered by Indian thought, this LitFest will lay the foundations of a newer and truer narrative of India.

On to Chapter 10 of @gchikermane's utterly engrossing book - frank admission: I never thought reading government policies could be so riveting - I pause, and reflect on this particular DISASTER - Air India nationalisation. If only @narendramodi could be gifted this book. If only. https://t.co/5A6zvsV76y

Thank you Anand for the kind words. Here is my article https://t.co/xrDEKtLLe1 and yes the target is for a decade or so, 2030 to be exact. I must say as I refine the thesis, my view only becomes more optimistic. Will write more on this.

Anyone interested in learning about Sita must read Valmiki’s Ramayana in the original if possible, if not at least a translation accompanied by the original Sanskrit verses. Valmiki captures the persona of Sita so delicately and awesomely. It is impossible not to like her https://t.co/4uHcuFeUEj

Source of @VishwaAdluri’s quote: “Indologists had for so long told themselves that Indians lacked access to the “true” meaning of their texts that they no longer considered it (racism) a prejudice but a methodological principle and a necessary one at that” https://t.co/tv1YNcQmzm

Yes, @VishwaAdluri is super; his works on the interpretation & meaning of our epic (Sanskrit) texts are phenomenal. And his “Nay Science” is a literary movement in itself.

I don't know. I am not cultured enough to be sensitive in feeling, articulate in language and nuanced in thought. Blame it on my plebian roots ,;-) https://t.co/mkHsNfC4z9
When you solve the problem of poverty, you discover the problem of culture. Then comes a clash between those who want to lead that culture. That changes culture itself. What is culture, after all? It is just a privilege of an elite who do not have to or want to change anything.

Gebser is a whole other order of scholar, much closer to Aurobindo, Jung, Steiner, etc in terms of his work’s significance. Wilber’s IT is interesting but a very different flight from Gebser’s project. I’d recommend Bill Thompson as a follow up to Gebser if you haven’t already.

Though a lot of so called libertarians who supposedly support the #2ndAmendment also support a strong #military, even though the core purpose of the #SecondAmendment was to fight back against the existence of such an institution! https://t.co/6WT6U07aSz
