I read, for the umpteenth time, “India: A wounded civilisation” by Naipaul. Flights are a good time to reabsorb fragments of such a book. Every single time, on every single page, I get goosebumps. For me, no other book has come close to generating such a visceral response so far.
https://twitter.com/harshmadhusudan/status/1026715217713979392?s=19
Oh no, Naipaul is no more! I have rarely read creative non-fiction that was more goosebumps inducing. Om Shanti.
https://twitter.com/harshmadhusudan/status/1028500684377874432?s=19

Your post made me look for a copy of Naipaul's book, and led me to this article in which F Dhondy demolished the falsification of Dalrymple & R Thapar https://t.co/UZdomvsmo8 Must Read!
https://twitter.com/purnimchand/status/1026823837885845505?s=19

Can not believe it is more than a decade old piece and how true it has turned out to be. @DalrympleWill is exposed as a bigoted, cruelly manipulative, trying to white wash the crimes of the fellow colonizers; not by researching the primary sources, + https://t.co/0QjVNg6k2O
https://twitter.com/Ramayan_bot/status/1027122186920845312?s=19

I love that one- especially coz I read the trilogy back to back. I could feel Naipaul's optimism in Million Mutinies
https://twitter.com/Manchu71/status/1026879638851661826?s=19

The moment of epiphany for me was reading Naipaul's trilogy--you can see the change from despair in Area of Darkness and Wounded Civilization--to the hopefulness in A Million Mutniies Now.
https://twitter.com/teasri/status/951523690767929350?s=19

I guess, the Prelude shd be Naipaul's iconic 'Among the believers',.!!
https://twitter.com/joshi_messi/status/936094361061695488?s=19

He was one of his kind! He is one of those who left an impact on me. It was during the graduation days that I read his incredible trilogy on India; An area of Darkness, India: An wounded civilisation & India: A million mutinies now. https://t.co/hs3cf1GeBp
https://twitter.com/Abhina_Prakash/status/1028501227590574080?s=19

May Shri Naipaul, the man who wrote my favourite fiction story ever (A Bend In The River), enter the realm of the Devas. Rama Nama Satya Hai.
His ability to capture & convey consistent undercurrent of tensions in seemingly languid expositions of the human condition was amazing.
https://twitter.com/WordOfTheFree/status/1028517696223301633?s=19

Instead of singing paeans to #Naipaul, if only one can bring oneself to the shores where "Narad sings of the bright possibilities that are on the verge to emerge out of the present night of darkness." https://t.co/CTtKrH6vGt #SriAurobindo #SAVITRI #Evolution #MysticPoetry #Narad

That's fine. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo don't endorse Hinduism. So, I call it Savitri Era Religion. Your efforts towards Hindu consolidation has its own validity. And doing a comparative study of different streams of spiritual teaching is certainly commendable. Hope you continue.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1027603261484883968?s=19

It's difficult but shovelling off one's past sedimentation is necessary to imbibe the revolutionary spirit of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, in its purity. You seem to be still a prisoner of Vivekananda, Ramana, or Shankara; that's common among South Indians. https://t.co/U9wui7vVgT
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1027434099512958977?s=19

The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, despite their completely different backgrounds, resolved to work for the future Evolution against formidable resistance, without any assurance of success or failure. The process continues and our collaboration involves faith, sincerity, and surrender.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1028530984424075265?s=19

No such strict traditional stipulations in Sri Aurobindo's scheme of things since he is emphatic on trigunatita. Intensity and sincerity are more vital than mere moral configuration. Of course, only when situation demands. Besides, one's sattva can't be assessed by someone else.
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1027281764648136706?s=19

Sri Aurobindo is certainly "guiding the humanity" at present through human beings like you and me. So, my views are as much part of the cauldron as yours from which events take shape. Postmodernism leans more on liminality than any predetermined fixity. And same with spirituality
https://twitter.com/NathTusar/status/1027252475739492353?s=19
I have said it many a time in the past that Sri Aurobindo wrote till 1950 and it's not proper to expect that each and every historical development will unfold in accordance with his words. Present situation has to be dealt with by us and I try to say things with utter seriousness.

Distorted history and motivated narratives have corrupted the world of knowledge like virus. Science and Philosophy are helpless in providing any firm ground for conceiving the world around us with accuracy. Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo, in this scenario, is the only recourse.
https://twitter.com/SavitriEraParty/status/1028556245098278912?s=19

Why no one recommends Sri Aurobindo? Because they have not read him. If you are interested in your own welfare and a bright future for India & world, reading forty volumes of Sri Aurobindo is absolutely necessary. Will help overcome juvenility and bigotry. https://t.co/vQbBsOjLCE

I find you inquisitive and open to ideas but somehow you haven't paid enough attention to Sri Aurobindo. Books and videos of Debashish Banerji can help you understand Consciousness and Integralism with clarity. https://t.co/B6QcHNvvNp

[Meeting of East and West in Sri Aurobindo's Philosophy is a comprehensive introduction to Sri Aurobindo's work. Maitra argues that western philosophical thought is essential if one is to understand the voluminous writings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.] https://t.co/mVA2Rt7VBt

Fighting one partial view by another is no solution. Integralism of Sri Aurobindo is the only answer and his The Doctrine of Passive Resistance that "appeared in the Bande Mataram between 11 and 23 April 1907" outlines some fundamental principles before Gandhi's Hind Swaraj, 1909

I would like to voice an #UnpopularOpinion
Swami Vivekanand was a charlatan that could speak English and saw he could market mysticism. All his ‘Shaktipat’ and accounts of supernatural sound so BS, just he’s been always portrayed as someone hard to condemn.
https://twitter.com/WrongDoc/status/1026004621418881024?s=19
The stories of Kali Mata appearing, Guru Ramkrishna’s spirit talking to him, the ‘Shaktipat’ experiences- do they make any rational sense?

In my experience of 38 years as Civil Servant I found that though all the honest were not efficient, the dishonest were almost always efficient. The challenge was to somehow make these efficient-dishonest understand the value of honesty. Once this happened, orgns got transformed
https://twitter.com/swarup58/status/1026113519526260737?s=19

@swarup58 hits the nail on the head. Most civil servants who are lauded as "honest" are those who might not be corrupt but who take safe decisions which might be against the public interest. they are not corrupt but are not honest.
https://twitter.com/DonToxique/status/1026331685133185030?s=19

No, I don't agree with this, usually honest people are more efficient, they are made to  look inefficient by the corrupt majority people ,who act as roadblocks to them
https://twitter.com/TVirupaksha/status/1026182540380569601?s=19

I have seen many hardworking officers stop working in that pace bcoz of no encouragement and misuse of their energy by seniors. Hence they start backing out.
https://twitter.com/sahilkansal92/status/1026191262922297344?s=19

Its actually the other way round. Honest people are projected as inefficient so that system can get rid of them. Honest, sincere and bold officers are humiliated and tortured in a system, which you probably know very well.
https://twitter.com/smittal_ips/status/1026196926549700609?s=19

Moneyfrom dishonesty becomes extra motivating nd energy provider for dishonests, to say honest are inefficient far from truth, they have also to fight against harassment nd humiliation by dishonests nd sometime they have to be low profile which can't be termed as being inefficient
https://twitter.com/sankhya1411/status/1026310332749438976?s=19

True..Honesty is a road full of struggles, but the one who completes the journey is always remembered earnestly..that’s the virtue of being honest in public life
https://twitter.com/ravidurairaj/status/1026327506348072960?s=19

Good people, whether they agree with you today or not should be in your radar for alliance. More the head count of good people in your life, better and richer it is. Especially, if you are an organisation.

We're the middle children of history. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. No intellectuals around. No statesman anywhere in sight. No great writers or thinkers. We are all mediocre and we settle for mediocre things thinking they are the best.

Ruins and Post-Correlationist Thought-- https://t.co/R0pDEesjZT
Let’s recall the original story of Narcissus.  He is captivated by his own image as if it were something other.  In a very real sense, this is what correlationism is.  The correlationist framework sees us in all things.  Things are merely the vehicle of our meanings, intentions, significations, and uses.
