The US did not save Europe from the Nazis, it was a combined effort which the allies could have lost if it wasn’t for the Russian advance on the Eastern front. People tend to downplay the importance of Russia, and also Britain, which had prevented Germany gaining a foothold before the US joined the war (reluctantly).
