Internet is driving us apart

Van Norden, Taking Back Philosophy... the widely read New York Times article that Jay Garfield and Bryan Van Norden wrote two years ago, calling for the study of non-Western philosophies in philosophy departments. Van Norden has now expanded the article's point into a book, Taking Back Philosophy. by Amod Lele

Assorted tweets for general information:

Reality is indescribable, as it is manifold and infinite. We can have only partial knowledge of it. Better we remember this plurality of reality and limits of our knowledge to comprehend it. This acceptance makes us more open, plural, tolerant and humble. #Philosophy #Metaphysics

Think that our interpretation of reality have psychological shades of emotions irrespective of materialistic facts...it becomes difficult to differentiate reality from fiction due to faithful thinking over rational thinking... metaphysics should avoid mystic in its structure...

Sheikh Hasina’s offer to restore Sri Aurobindo Bhavan faces social media backlash.. https://t.co/ZzjeyrQX7B
Ms. Banerjee extensively discussed the issue of restoration of the building with the Bangladesh Prime Minister. “The place was with them [Hasina’s family] for a long time. Now it is Aurobindo Bhavan, perhaps under the Ashram [trust]. They [Sheikh Hasina] want to restore it. Both the countries will talk about it [and] find out if they [the trust] agree and accept land elsewhere,” she said on Saturday. The Chief Minister’s comment sparked controversy.
The comment did not go down well with social media users.
“I am strongly condemning this unethical proposal,” said Biswadeb Raychaudhuri, an advocate at Calcutta High Court, on social media. Many supported Mr. Raychaudhuri. “It is a national treasure and cannot be handed over to another country,” was another of the remarks.

Every Indian Muslim will welcome the Hinduism that we hear of here on Twitter from Rahul Eswar and Sri Sri. We all must reject extremism propagated by the likes of VHP and Bajrang Dal and many other such Senas associated with RSS.

The perception problem is worsened because 1) there is no symmetry in the real world anyway, but 2) the mind needs a baseline to make a judgement. Who do you think would be equivalent to a Couto for Hindus? What would you respond when Tufailures tell you it is, say, Sri Sri?

Hi! @TheWeekLive is doing a cover on alternative aka progressive education in India. This is the lead article:
#Education #schools #educhat #edchat
The term Free Progress was first used by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother (his most prominent French disciple Mira Alfasa), while explaining the philosophy of integral education.
#CherryReads

In real sense the first three books of Savitri tells us a lot more about Si Aurobindo than all the biographical details that are available. For example, there are questions like what was Sri Aurobindo' doing for 40 years in Pondicherry even  after he had acquired
